From your earliest moments, through your accepting Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, God’s Holy Spirit has been gently nudging you to follow, teaching you to pray, impressing you with desire to read Scripture, encouraging you to examine your heart and sending you fellowship with mature believers – all with the ultimate purpose of your serving God’s Kingdom in some unique way. Ultimately, only you and God can find what that specific purpose is, but eventually, you have to test it, to see which calling is the right one.
The Call to Stronger Service in your current church:
Not everyone is called to pastoral ministry. God calls certain men and women to serve as supportive lay leaders in their local church.
For this calling, we offer the Christian Studies (CS) program, a multiple-course, two-year program designed to help leaders within a church grapple with churches face. Participants grow a deeper understanding of scripture and s mission in the world. Graduates are armed with approaches for helping the church remain relevant without compromising the timeless Gospel message.
If you cannot make a two-year commitment, but still want to gain knowledge that can help you be a stronger Christian, you can enroll as a Personal Enrichment (PE) student and take one course at a time for your own Continuing Education and personal benefit.
The Call to Pastoral Ministry:
How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent?
God calls certain men and women to minister to congregations. This calling must be taken seriously this might be who you are!
After much prayer, if you feel called by God to pastoral ministry, talk with a pastor, friend, counselor, a trusted mentor, or all-of-the-above. When ” ACTS can help you fulfill God’s calling.
ACTS offers a 2 year Certified Lay Ministry (CLM) training program. Classes meet Saturdays to accommodate the schedules of working people. Sessions are on-line to make them more convenient and to save transportation costs. Instructors are gifted, qualified and experienced pastoral leaders and denominational executives. Emphasis is strongly biblical and very “real-world.”
Pastors starting ministry in North American churches today are likely to serve congregations whose numbers and sense of mission have declined or are declining. Our curriculum is designed with the goal of preparing new pastors for the specific challenges they will likely face in ministry.
Once through the program and guides preparation for certified lay ministry. The CLM program is a bargain: tuition for all courses and all mentoring sessions is under $3,000 combined. Your local church is encouraged to provide tuition support, so that you may be able to complete your courses without debt.
Completing the CLM program can become the educational foundation for becoming a Certified Lay Minister in the American Baptist Churches of Pennsylvania and Delaware (ABCOPAD). These credentials can be recognized by various regions in the American Baptist Churches, USA. Currently, a significant number of churches in ABCOPAD are pastored by CLM graduates.
